Founded in 1959 at the Duke University Geology Department (now Earth & Ocean Sciences), SOUTHEASTERN GEOLOGY is a refereed journal that gives the reader the results of research in all aspects of the geology of the southeastern United States. Over 800 articles have been published. Duncan Heron was Editor-in-Chief of SOUTHEASTERN GEOLOGY from its inception through 2017. David Bush is the current Editor-in-Chief.
